It’s officially summer at Lake Nacimiento, and what a summer it’s going to be! The lake is full, the sun is shining, and people are out enjoying every last bit of it. If you recently moved to Lake Nacimiento, or you’re renting a vacation home for the summer, allow me to fill you in on some of the most popular activities to enjoy at The Dragon. As a Lake Nacimiento real estate agent and resident, I am here to answer any questions you may have. Swimming – Nothing feels better than taking a dip in the water on a hot summer day! Choose to wade in slowly from shore, jump in from a boat, or jump from a cliff! Always be sure to wear lifejackets, to remain close to shore or to your boat, and to always be aware of where other boaters are on the water.
Water Sports – Lots of people enjoy water sports on The Dragon, such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, flyboarding, wake surfing, water tubing, jet skiing and so on. The glassy waters in the morning and afternoon make ideal conditions for open areas.
Boating – Whether you live right on the lake, or you’d like to come up for day trips, there are marinas and boat launches for everyone to partake in the fun! Spend a day cruising high speeds on a speedboat or jet ski, lounge with the family on a pontoon boat, or relax on the serene waters with a kayak or canoe. The option is yours! All boats require a permit for lake use.
Fishing – Fishing is a popular lake activity year-round, and summer is no exception. Because if the hotter weather and bigger crowds, the best fishing is done early in the morning or toward evening. You can find large and small mouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and white bass, which is only found at Lake Naci. Be sure to get a fishing license before you head out.
Camping – There isn’t anything like spending an entire night out in nature! After a day at the lake, unwind around a campfire with s’mores and storytelling. Then head to the tent and sleep soundly after a day of sun and fresh air. Then wake up and do it all again the next day! There are numerous campgrounds to choose from, including one in Oak Shores for residents.
Community Activities – If you are fortunate enough to live or rent right on Lake Nacimiento, you can enjoy activities that take place within your community. For example, Oak Shores has a clubhouse, pool, private marina, campground, dog park and more. They host activities often for holidays and special occasions, along with social boating nights, outdoor movie nights, live music and so on.
