The month of August just began in Central California, which means it’s time to get into gear and enjoy as many summertime activities as possible! Before you know it, the kids will be going back to school and the fall season will arrive. As your Central California real estate agent, I am here to fill you in on upcoming events all around SLO County. Pull out your calendar and jot these down!
1. Electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling will perform songs from her acclaimed sophomore album, Shatter Me, at Vina Robles Winery’s Amphitheatre this Thursday, Aug. 6! Special guest Robert DeLong will open the show. Purchase ticket and enjoy estate wines from Vina Robles under the stars while enjoying the music of this intimate performance.
2. Purchase tickets to the 1st Annual Barrel Comparison Seminar on Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This takes place at Derby Wine Estates and will educate you on the influence that using various barrels can make on wine. The seminar will be fun, educational and interactive, with first-hand tastes of wines discussed. Tickets cost $45 or $35 for Club Derby Members. Lunch by Derby Smokehouse is included.
3. Hot Summer Soul Night II is coming up this Saturday, Aug. 8, at Castoro Cellars! From 6 to 9:30 p.m., enjoy performances by three exciting bands, including Burning James and the Funk Flames, The Bobby Santa Cruz Band, and Irene Cathaway Blues Band with Dorian Michael. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 the day of. A Cajun style dinner will be available for an additional cost.
4. The Macaroni & Cheese Festival is coming up on Aug. 15 at the Avila Beach Golf Resort! From 2 to 6 p.m., you can indulge in plenty of gourmet mac and cheese while also enjoying tastings of wine, beer and spirits. Full portions are available to purchase. Meanwhile, unwind and relax with live music and take in the beautiful scenery. Tickets cost $55.
5. Broadway By The Sea is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the sounds of summer! Head to Chapman Estate to enjoy the voices and sounds of OperaSLO performing Broadway music from popular titles such as Oklahoma!, Les Miserables, West Side Story and more. This takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. Concert seating costs $55, table seating costs $75 and a table of eight is available for $600.
