As your Central Coast real estate agent, I shared 4th of July events taking place around SLO County in my last blog post. Today, I’d like to share how to celebrate this patriotic holiday in Monterey County this coming weekend! Grab your planner.

• On July 4th, head to Fire Station #1 for a Pancake Breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Tickets cost $10 as a fundraiser for Monterey Firefighters. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts and face painting, and everyone can meet local firefighters while savoring some pancakes. Afterward, walk right to the parade!

• The Monterey County Independence Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. and is expected to last about an hour as it passes along a route through downtown Monterey. Thousands will gather to admire creative floats, specialty units, musical groups and guest celebrities. Get there early for a good spot!

• The Big Little Backyard Bar-B-Que and Entertainment Extravaganza will follow the parade in Monterey County on July 4th from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free admission will get you featured bands playing music throughout the day, children’s entertainment, such as carnival rides, face painting, balloon artists and jump houses, and great barbecue food! Make a day of it with the family.

• Finish your 4th of July holiday with a Monterey County Pops performance at the Golden State Theatre. Doors open for the free concert at 6 p.m., so get there early! The concert will begin at 7 p.m. as the Pops play an evening of patriotic and Americana music.

• Pacific Grove is hosting a City 4th of July BBQ on July 4th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Caledonia Park. This old-fashioned BBQ will feature great food for the whole family, live entertainment and a chance to enjoy a patriotic celebration with others in the community. Show off your red, white and blue apparel!

• The California Rodeo Association is hosting a Fireworks Show in Salinas on July 4th. Head to the Salinas Sports Complex that night. Gates open at 6 p.m. for the free show. Enjoy food and drink vendors, entertainment and more until the fireworks begin. Bring a blanket and enjoy the show!
