If you love food, you’ll love checking out these 12 spots that BuzzFeed recently recommended for SLO County. Thanks to restaurants like these, the Central Coast has a permanent home on the culinary map.

  • The Hatch, Paso Robles – Indulge in a one-ton rotisserie chicken, or try another roasted meat option, such as tri-tip, baby back ribs and many others. Almost everything is made in-house, including the ketchup and hot sauce. This is Southern home cooking at its finest!
  • Marston’s 101, Atascadero – For your meal, enjoy artisanal flatbreads made in a wood-fired oven, or fish and chips made with local Morro Bay cod. For a beverage, enjoy some spirits off the full craft cocktail menu, or try a new beer from the 33 tap options!
  • Thomas Hill Organic Kitchen, San Luis Obispo – They have two locations, one in SLO that just opened in 2016, and one in Paso Robles. Enjoy locally and organically sourced, seasonal food and an extensive wine list. From a CSA and 10-acre organic farm, to two farm-to-table eateries, this place has come far.
  • Fish Gaucho, Paso Robles – One of the area’s most popular spots, you can’t go wrong with Ahi nachos, shrimp ceviche with charred grapefruit, and handcrafted margaritas in flavors like watermelon mint and jalapeño pineapple. It’s Mexican fare with a California twist!
  • Bristols Cider House, Atascadero – Cider is making a name for itself in SLO County, alongside wine and beer. Bristol, England native Neil Collins is a winemaker, but then turned his talents to cider. Taste a variety of unfiltered, hopped, cask-aged or traditional yeast-fermented cider brews in all sizes.
  • Luna Red, San Luis Obispo – Tapas are the name of the game here, with eclectic flavors. From Asian-inspired dishes to Latin fare, you’ll find something to satisfy every taste bud. After eating bacon-fat Brussels sprouts with kimchi and mint, or Valencian paella, wash it down with one of four sangrias!

Other restaurants mentioned on BuzzFeed’s list include Paso Terra in Paso Robles, Whiskey & June in Atascadero, Naked Fish in San Luis Obispo, La Cosecha in Paso Robles, Street Side Ale House in Atascadero and BBQ at the Downtown San Luis Obispo Farmer’s Market.
