Celebrate Halloween in Monterey County

Monterey County Halloween
Halloween in Monterey County

It’s the second half of October in Monterey County, which means it’s time to gear up for the Halloween holiday! If you love getting spooked, you’re in luck. There are lots of Halloween-themed events and activities to attend in the coming weeks. As your Monterey County real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on some of the best!

  • Get a real haunted ghost tour through the Point Sur Lightstation in Big Sur on Oct. 22 or Oct. 29! First, you’ll enjoy a sunset over the ocean while savoring a buffet dinner in the barn. Then you’ll take a spooky tour of the triplex, listen to ghost stories, and finish the night with dessert and beverages. This begins at 5:15 p.m., costs $85 and is for anyone over the age of six.
  • Head to Sovino Wine Bar in downtown Monterey on Oct. 27 for Pumpkins and Pinot! Gather with others in the community who love the fall season, and wine, and carve your own jack-o-lantern while sipping wines. This takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. and costs $25, which includes one glass of wine, a pumpkin, carving tools and stencils.
  • Help Carmel-by-the-Sea celebrate their 100th birthday on Oct. 29 at the Halloween Parade! The city was actually incorporated on Halloween, but they’ll celebrate a couple days early with a parade down Ocean Avenue. It begins at 11 a.m., it’s free to attend, and Clint Eastwood will be the Grand Marshal!  Enjoy costumed residents, dancers, musicians, dogs, horses, vintage cars, floats and more.
  • Get in an extra day of trick-or-treating on Oct. 29 in Pacific Grove! Dress the family in costumes and head to the 5th annual Downtown PG Trick-or-Treating Extravaganza. Local businesses with ribbons and pumpkins outside will be handing out candy for the kids. Everyone can enjoy live music, Halloween displays, entertainment and lots of treats throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s free to participate!
  • Head to the City of Seaside on Oct. 31 for their Halloween Bonanza. Rather than trick-or-treating in the neighborhoods, your kids could enjoy all sorts of activities from 6 to 9 p.m. with other local kids. This includes costume contests, bounce houses, games, crafts, a haunted house, and of course, lots of candy. It’s free for all kids age 10 and under.

Enjoy these upcoming events as you get into the Halloween spirit. If you’ve got a costume you’re proud of, or a Halloween-decorated home, share a photo on my Facebook page! I’d love to see.
