The summer season has kicked off at Lake Nacimiento, and if you’re lucky enough to live on or around Lake Naci, you don’t have to deal with the car and marina traffic of the general public! You can walk right out your back door and to the lake, or right down the street to your community’s private marina. If you don’t, it might be time to improve your outdoor space, so you and your family or friends will want to spend more time out there. Plus, attractive outdoor space could increase your home value, so it’s a win-win!
Here are some tips on how to make your outdoor space irresistible, via HouseLogic:
1. Make it really comfortable. If you’ve got the space, opt for plush outdoor furniture with cushy cushions. If you don’t want to go all out, just add a few cushions to furnishings so people can handle sitting or lounging on them longer. An outdoor rug is a great option for barefoot mornings as well. Just be sure to choose options that are water and weatherproof!
2. Make it tech-friendly. The honest truth is, people love their technology these days. The choice is yours, but if you want people to spend more time outside, extend your Wi-Fi range with an antenna, add charging stations or use solar chargers, and add wireless speakers for entertaining. Making it a tech-friendly space will also appeal to buyers.
3. Blur the outdoor/indoor lines. One way to do so is to switch out a standard door with a French door or sliding doors. This adds more lake views to your home too, which will add value! If you really want to go all out, add weatherproof flooring to your outdoor space and indoor space, so it flows seamlessly.
4. Add mood lighting. Don’t forget about the evening hours! Lighting can give you more hours to enjoy your outdoor space, and it adds extra safety and security. Consider uplighting in trees, bistro lighting over patios, solar lighting for walkways or rails, or sconces by a table or grill. Lots of options!
5. Personalize the space. You want your space to appeal to guests or potential buyers, but if you plan on spending a lot of your own time there, personalize it to your liking! This could mean painting your deck in your favorite colors, creating a path with colored glass or brick, building a brick pizza oven and so on.
