The 4th of July falls on Monday this year, which means that all of next weekend will be a holiday celebration in SLO County! Start planning your holiday weekend now with a list of festive activities to enjoy for the patriotic holiday. As your SLO County real estate agent, I’m here to bring you a list of events you should know about.
- Help Morro Bay celebrate independence with local art! The July 4th Weekend Art in the Park takes place July 2 through July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Head to Morro Bay City Park to see art in action and to purchase beautiful, local art pieces for your Central Coast home from 125 independent artists and crafters! There will also be a variety of food and drinks to enjoy as you admire the art.
- Paso Pops is new in 2016! Head to Paso Robles Horse Park on July 2 at noon for a patriotic event. Celebrate Independence Day with a Paso Pops Orchestra concert, along with great wine and food, family-friendly activities and a brief fireworks display set to music. Get your tickets early!
- On July 4th, head to Pismo Beach Pier for their Annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration! Arrive early to enjoy music, arts, crafts and food, and to get a great spot to watch the grand firework display from the famous 1,200 foot Pismo Pier. The event is free unless you want VIP spots on the pier for $25. It runs from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. so make a day of it!
- You could also head to Tidelands Park in Morro Bay from noon to 5 p.m. for their Family Funday July 4th! Bring the whole family for a family-friendly, alcohol-free event, where you can enjoy a traditional picnic complete with a skateboard race, bike parade and other family events throughout the day. Decorate your bike in patriotic colors for the parade!
If you don’t partake in any of these festive activities, you could also enjoy a day of boating or fishing at Lake Nacimiento, surfing at one of our local beaches, hiking at a state park, sipping wine at a local vineyard, or throwing a traditional backyard barbecue at your Central Coast home!
