It’s June! To anyone living on the Central Coast, that means it’s summer. The Oak Shores Gate is open for summer hours, boats are speeding through Lake Nacimiento, ocean beaches are filled with surfers and tanners, and the trails are busy with hikers and bikers.

The festival schedule is getting busy, too! In Monterey County alone, we’ve got a lot of fun events coming up. As your Central Coast real estate agent, allow me to fill you in on them. Pull out your schedule and start planning your summer.

• Artichoke Festival is this weekend, June 4 and 5, at the Monterey County Fair & Even Center. If you love artichokes, you’ll love this fest! It’ll feature artichoke cooking demos, so you’ll actually know how to cook them properly, along with artichoke-themed art, an artichoke parade, artichokes and other vegetables at the farmers market, and artichokes prepared in every way imaginable. Get some great food and cooking inspiration!

• The Monterey Beer Festival will take place June 11, from 12:30 to 5 p.m., at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center. The fest brings over 80 beers from dozens of breweries, where you will taste unusual offerings from major beer companies and from lesser known brewing companies from around the world. Aside from beer, you can enjoy local food vendors from the area and live bands throughout the day.

• Mission San Antonio presents their Annual Fiesta on Sunday, June 12, in honor of St. Anthony. The event begins at 11 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. It’ll include traditional oak-fired barbecue chicken or top sirloin, live music from bluegrass and Mariachi bands, arts and craft vendors to enjoy with the family, and children’s games to keep the kids happy. You can also meet with the Consigned Artists from the Mission gift shop.

• The Carmel Valley Art & Wine Celebration will take place on June 18. It’ll showcase 60 artists, an abundance of local wines and strolling musicians at restaurants, shops and galleries in the area! So hop around the quaint Carmel Valley village that day to browse among paintings, photography, jewelry and more while sipping on your favorite Monterey wine. There will be plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy too, so bring the whole family.

• Everyone gets excited for Monterey BaconFest, which takes place from June 25-26. Head back to the Monterey County Fair & Event Center for a weekend of live music and a “Best of Bacon” competition. Bacon lovers will unite for all sorts of bacon-flavored concoctions, which even include Bacon Margaritas and Bacon Bloody Mary’s. Two chefs will be creating bacon masterpieces. It will take place each day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with music starting at 11:30.
