What time of year is your favorite in Monterey County? SF Gate recently named 10 reasons to visit Monterey County in the winter, and after reading these reasons, you’ll soon find yourself agreeing! As your Central California real estate agent, I am here to fill you in, so you can see how wonderful the winter season is here in the Central California region. No season is a bad season here!

First Night Monterey – The biggest New Year’s Eve event in Monterey County is First Night Monterey, which takes place all day and night! This family-friendly, alcohol-free event allows the whole family to enjoy the festivities together. Walk up and down the streets of Monterey while enjoying dozens of performers, crafts and entertainment for kids, a parade and grand finale concerts! Cost is $15 in advance for adults or $10 for kids, and $22 the day of for adults, and $15 for kids.

Skydive Monterey Bay – Want to do something daring in the New Year? Plan a skydiving adventure with Skydive Monterey Bay! They jump from the highest tandem drop point in the world, 18,000 feet, which allows jumpers to reach 120 mph and enjoy 90 seconds of free fall! Make an appointment at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. You jump from Marina Municipal Airport.

EcoFarm Conference – This annual edition of the world’s conference on organic farming is, in short, all about farming, from growing specialty fruits to zero waste management tips. However, there is much fun to be had! Aside from speakers, you can enjoy wine and cider tastings, artisanal beer and cheese lunches, dances on the beach and more at the Asilomar Conference Grounds. Events take place Jan. 20 through Jan. 23 in Pacific Grove.

Big Sur Foragers Festival – Local foragers love searching for treasures in Monterey County, including seaweed, shellfish, herbs and more. Join the festival, which includes foraging with other enthusiasts, along with beer and wine, hikes and cook-offs, a party and more, taking place at Ventana Inn’s patio decks and numerous other Big Sur locations. Dates for the festival are Jan. 15 through Jan. 17.

River Road Wine Trail – Carmel Valley and Carmel-by-the-Sea enjoy more than 20 wine tasting rooms, but out in Salinas Valley, the tasting rooms adjoin the wineries and views of the gorgeous Central California region. Eleven destinations make up the River Road Wine Trail, and on Feb. 13, each River Road spot will offer special food pairings and deals on pairings. Check it out that day, or do it sooner if you can’t wait!
